Event Itinerary
10:30am: Meet up at Big East Fork Trailhead
Big East Fork is a moderate trail that follows a river. A few parts of the trail are washed out and can be a little tricky to navigate. Trekking poles can be helpful but not necessary.
There are some areas along the water deep enough to submerge and cool down - bring a swim suit if you want!
Be sure to wear good hiking shoes! Dogs are welcome.
Be Prepared! What You Should Bring
Bring a water bottle and snacks for yourself or to share.
Parking
There is limited parking at the trailhead. Carpooling strongly encouraged!
All attendees at events created by, or in collaboration with WNC AAPI are asked to act in accordance of our Community Values & Participation Agreements.
Our Community Values
-
We're all in this together to create a welcoming environment. Let's treat everyone with respect. Healthy debates are natural, but kindness is required.
-
Bullying of any kind isn't allowed, and degrading comments about things like race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender or identity will not be tolerated.
-
Being part of this community requires mutual trust. Authentic, expressive discussions make communities great, but may also be sensitive and private. What's shared in the community should stay in the community.
-
While we all identify as AAPI, there are as many perspectives as there are people in this group. We are here to not only witness each other, but to learn, which can be uncomfortable.
-
WNC AAPI is a community run group. The more members who join to support the group, the more diverse, lively, and resilient this group will be.
Participation Agreements
All event attendees are also asked to read our Participation Agreements
-
Official WNC AAPI events may be intended for: AAPI, AAPI + family, AAPI + family & friends, or AAPI + BIPOC.
For events that are open to family and friends, please only invite guests that you believe will be respectful of our shared space and Community Values. Please do not share event signups or locations publicly, and if you do invite a guest, the expectation is that you attend with them.
-
WNC AAPI hosts and co-hosts several potlucks each year. We try to reduce waste as much as possible by encouraging greener practices at our events.
Please bring your own reusable dishes and eating utensils, and consider donating a set of utensils to our community potluck bin!Compost and recycling are always available at our events to help reduce waste.
-
Events may be photographed, and pictures may be used on the WNC AAPI website, social media, or other resources such as flyers.
Please let the organizers know if you'd prefer not to be in photos.
