WNC AAPI Hike Camp Hike

WNC AAPI invites you to join us for a choose your own adventure styled experience enjoying the outdoors on the Blue Ridge Parkway with WNC AAPI community members, Family & Friends!
Our hope with BIPOC hikes is to empower people of color to explore the outdoors in the WNC region. We share knowledge of our favorite hikes and enjoy the community and safety that we find together. If you've ever felt discomfort hiking alone, join us! We particularly hope to provide BIPOC women and LBGTQ+ folks with the opportunity to meet and form hiking friends and groups. All genders are welcome.

Join us for one part, two, or all three! Our camping location will have easy access to cars, and is a great entry-level camping experience for anyone interested in joining but concerned about intensity.
Hikes are not meant to reach a certain distance, and instead are intended to enjoy the moments, scenery, & community. Snack & art breaks encouraged! Stop & smell the roses
Event Itinerary
Day 1 - Trail Hike! Afternoon hike views, Group Photo, Sunset.
Day 1 - Camp Overnight! Fire, Food, Sleeeeep.
Day 2 - Water Hike! Campers pack up, Creek Hike, Group Photo, Home!
Day 2 hike begins mid-morning. Leave parkway by 2:30pm
What to Bring
Whatever you feel you need to survive! Choose your own adventure! Are you hiking? Are you camping? Are you exploring the creek?
Water, snacks, footwear, sunscreen, etc. Polarized sunglasses help you see through the surface of water! You’ll probably need more water than you think you need. Keep some backup water in an insulated container in your car - add ice right before you leave home!

While we all identify as AAPI, there are as many perspectives as there are people in this group. We are here to not only witness each other, but to learn, which can be uncomfortable.

WNC AAPI is a community run group. The more members who join to support the group, the more diverse, lively, and resilient this group will be.

Official WNC AAPI events may be intended for: AAPI, AAPI + family, AAPI + family & friends, or AAPI + BIPOC.
For events that are open to family and friends, please only invite guests that you believe will be respectful of our shared space and Community Values. Please do not share event signups or locations publicly, and if you do invite a guest, the expectation is that you attend with them.

WNC AAPI hosts and co-hosts several potlucks each year. We try to reduce waste as much as possible by encouraging greener practices at our events.
Please bring your own reusable dishes and eating utensils, and consider donating a set of utensils to our community potluck bin!Compost and recycling are always available at our events to help reduce waste.

Events may be photographed, and pictures may be used on the Caravan Art Bazaar, Dalaya Thai, or WNC AAPI website, social media, or other resources such as flyers.
Please let the organizers know if you'd prefer not to be in photos.

Some events may carry some element of risk, such as group hikes. Attendance at any WNC AAPI event is at your own risk.
Attending our events assumes the agreement that you will not hold WNC AAPI or any of its members liable for any injury or illness.
